Steven Shaw
ATTORNEY AT LAW
When choosing a lawyer, it’s a good idea to know who they are, and what it would be like to work with them.
When you hire me, it means working with me directly. All of my clients have my cell phone number and can contact me directly whenever they need to. My legal assistant, office manager, and business manager are also available to help when I can’t. I will explain what I am doing, and why, so you will understand the decisions I make in your case. And my clients will always have the last word when it comes to settling their claims.
I am a native of North Carolina and California, but I've lived in the Puget Sound area since 1999. My desire to become a lawyer started at age 7 when I watched the re-runs of the Perry Mason TV program. Watching Perry Mason control the courtroom, find the ‘smoking gun’ in every episode, get witness-stand confessions every week – I was hooked.
Later, in high school, I participated in the Mock Trial program – a chance for students to prepare a fictional case, and present the case to real judges against other high schools. Once again, I was fascinated by the process and the drama of the trial.
Finally, after getting my bachelor’s and getting married, I made the decision to attend law school. I attended Seattle University’s School of Law in Seattle, and while there competed in law school mock trial competitions and became a member of the Moot Court Board, guiding other students with their own mock trials.
Since graduating from law school, I have represented hundreds of individuals and tried many cases in the district and superior courts of Washington State. I have argued before the Washington State Court of Appeals, creating precedent-setting law. I have served in leadership positions and committees with the Washington State Bar Association, Washington State Association for Justice, and the American Association for Justice. But what I love the most is getting to know and work with great people.
